WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY
Frustrated. We were wary of trying another pool company but after an extended illness over the holidays, our pool had turned green and needed a good cleaning that I just didn't have the time nor energy to do. We met with the owner and shared our prior experiences with companies that didn't communicate, didn't show up as promised and kept trying to upsell services that weren't needed. Owner looks at it - it's dirty but not unfixable. Water levels are great - no need to drain it (Yay!) and there were no chemicals in it at all. We felt like we were in good hands with all the reviews online and paid a deposit for them to begin the process.
Day 1: Tech shows up to start the process. He takes the filters out to clean them (we had requested that they be swapped with our spare cartridges but...) and when he reassembled it, he did not tighten the ring around the pump with a tool and then proceeded to panic that it was going to blow up. My husband took it apart, reassembled it, tightened it and it was good to go. There was no other brushing/cleaning that took place that day nor any chemicals added. The tech was insisting that our pump (4 years old) was going to blow up.
We spoke with the owner and tried again the next day.
Day 2: No cleaning the filters, minimal brushing and some chemicals. Leaves the pump at >3500rpm 24/7.
Day 3: Did not clean the filters or swap them, no brushing. Not sure what else was done but this is definitely not what we were told would happen.
The pump gets left on >3500rpm 24/7 for SIX DAYS STRAIGHT!!!! Day 6: I reach out to the owner again (I'm getting absolutely no communication from them other than me reaching out to them). The response was: 'We'll get you on today's or Tue schedule to do that. If you're home and can send a pic of pool for the color/clarity that would help too.'
Day 7: New tech comes, replaces cartridges, fixes the pump schedule back to normal, brushes it down.
Day 14: No further response, nothing from the company so I reach out AGAIN. He responds that they'll send someone out.
Day 15: Original tech is back (despite this being an issue). The pool doesn't look like it's been brushed, and now he's saying it needs a drain and rinse. Still no communication from the owner. I was really hoping for a good outcome but right now, I feel duped again.
Our records show 8 service visits over this period, and while we were working hard to get your pool right, my communication throughout was not where it needed to be. That's on me.
I'm glad we had the chance to speak this morning and come to an amicable resolution. I wish you all the best and hope your pool is back to perfect soon.

Shortened lifespan of your equipment
Prompt, professional pool heater repair helps protect your investment while keeping your pool ready year-round.

How to Handle Pool Heater Repair in Stone Canyon
Maintaining a functional pool heater is essential for Stone Canyon residents who want to enjoy their swimming pools year-round. With the area’s mild climate and beautiful weather, a properly working pool heater extends your swimming season and enhances your outdoor living experience. However, like any mechanical system, pool heaters require regular maintenance and occasional repairs to operate efficiently. Understanding the basics of pool heater repair can help you identify problems early and determine when to call a professional.
Common Pool Heater Problems in Stone Canyon
Stone Canyon homeowners typically encounter several common pool heater issues throughout the year. One of the most frequent problems is a heater that fails to ignite or turn on completely. This issue can stem from various causes, including faulty pilot lights, problems with the gas supply, or electrical connection issues. Additionally, inadequate heating is another concern where the heater runs but fails to warm the water to the desired temperature. This often indicates problems with the heating elements, thermostats, or reduced water flow through the system.
Strange noises emanating from your pool heater should never be ignored. Rumbling, whistling, or banging sounds typically suggest scale buildup, combustion problems, or issues with internal components. Furthermore, leaks around the heater unit can indicate corroded pipes, loose connections, or damaged heat exchangers. Given Stone Canyon’s water quality and mineral content, scale buildup is particularly common and requires regular attention to prevent more serious damage.
Initial Troubleshooting Steps
Before calling a professional for pool heater repair in Stone Canyon, there are several troubleshooting steps you can safely perform yourself. First, check your circuit breakers and ensure the heater is receiving power. Sometimes, a simple reset of the breaker can resolve the issue. Next, examine the thermostat settings to confirm they are properly configured and set to a temperature higher than the current pool water temperature.
Inspect the filter system as well, since a dirty or clogged filter can restrict water flow and prevent the heater from operating correctly. Clean or replace your filter if necessary. Additionally, verify that all valves in the system are open and positioned correctly to allow proper water circulation. Check the pilot light if you have a gas heater; if it is out, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to relight it safely. However, if the pilot light repeatedly goes out, this indicates a more serious problem that requires professional attention.
Understanding When Professional Help Is Needed
While some basic troubleshooting can be done independently, many pool heater repairs require the expertise of qualified professionals. Gas-related issues, for instance, should always be handled by licensed technicians due to safety concerns. If you smell gas near your heater, immediately turn off the gas supply, evacuate the area, and contact a professional right away. Similarly, complex electrical problems, thermostat replacements, and heat exchanger repairs demand specialized knowledge and tools.
Professional pool heater repair technicians in Stone Canyon have the training and equipment necessary to diagnose problems accurately and perform repairs safely. They can identify issues that might not be obvious to homeowners, such as internal corrosion, pressure switch failures, or problems with the combustion chamber. Moreover, professional repairs typically come with warranties that protect your investment and ensure the work is completed to industry standards.
Preventive Maintenance for Stone Canyon Pool Heaters
Preventing problems before they occur is always more cost-effective than dealing with emergency repairs. Regular maintenance is crucial for extending the life of your pool heater and maintaining optimal performance. Schedule annual professional inspections before the swimming season begins to identify potential issues early. During these inspections, technicians will clean burners, check gas connections, test safety controls, and ensure all components are functioning properly.
Stone Canyon residents should also monitor their pool’s water chemistry regularly. Imbalanced water chemistry can lead to scale buildup and corrosion, which significantly impact heater efficiency and longevity. Maintain proper pH levels, alkalinity, and calcium hardness according to manufacturer recommendations. Additionally, keep the area around your heater clear of debris, leaves, and vegetation to ensure proper ventilation and prevent potential fire hazards.
Choosing the Right Repair Service
Selecting a qualified pool heater repair service in Stone Canyon requires careful consideration. Look for companies with proper licensing, insurance, and certification to work on your specific heater brand and model. Read customer reviews and ask for references to gauge the quality of their work and customer service. A reputable company will provide clear estimates, explain the problem thoroughly, and offer transparent pricing without hidden fees.
Conclusion
Pool heater repair in Stone Canyon does not have to be overwhelming when you understand the common issues and know when to seek professional help. While basic troubleshooting can resolve minor problems, complex repairs require the expertise of qualified technicians to ensure safety and proper function. By combining regular preventive maintenance with prompt attention to problems, you can keep your pool heater operating efficiently for years to come, allowing you to fully enjoy your Stone Canyon swimming pool in comfort throughout the seasons.
